Additional info:
What a super coincidence coming across your
Website. I just became nostalgic and thought I would see if
there was any information on the Internet regarding my former
employer, Les Cahan (owner) of Beltone Recording Studios in NYC.
I was fortunate to be taken under the wings of Les Cahan and his
Chief Recording Engineer, Irv Greenbaum (who engineered/recorded
most of the Jive Five and Bobby Lewis hits, during the 1960's. I
was brought in as recording engineer during the mid sixties. The
training was amazing. I wanted to share my training with the
rest of the world, so in 1979 I opened one of the first Audio
Engineering schools in the world, now considered a leader,
teaching digital audio and other innovative courses. The
college, called Trebas Institute, has received numerous awards
and has a staff of award winning instructors in both of its
accredited campuses in Toronto and Montreal, Canada. Our
graduates have received over a dozen GRAMMY Awards for
producing/engineering Robert Plant, Sean Paul, Drake, and many
others. The Diploma programs offered include: Audio Engineering
& Production, Sound Design, Film & Television Production,
Entertainment Management, and Event & Venue Management.
Thousands of students have gone through the one-year programs,
with a job placement rate between 72 and 93% (depending on
program, campus, and year). Graduates hold senior executive
positions in major music, film, and TV companies throughout the
world. Graduates have been responsible for music recording of
motion picture soundtracks including Across The Universe, Cold
Mountain, Walk The Line, Happy Feet, O Brother Where Art Thou?
Guest speakers at the college have included Tom Dowd, Phil
Ramone, Clive Davis, and Phil Spector.
